San Francisco to host 2028 MLB All-Star Game
San Francisco will host the 2028 Major League All-Star Game, the Midsummer Classic returning to the Giants' Oracle Park 21 years after it hosted in 2007.
"With its passionate fanbase, world-class ballpark, and rich baseball history, San Francisco will be an outstanding host for All-Star Week, which culminates in one of Major League Baseball's best traditions, the Midsummer Classic," MLB commissioner Rob Manfred said in a statement on Friday.
"We look forward to bringing the excitement of All-Star Week and the celebration of baseball to the Bay Area."
The last time the All-Star Game was held at the waterfront ballpark, Japanese star Ichiro Suzuki was named Most Valuable Player after hitting the first inside-the-park home run in the history of the mid-season exhibition.
The event will mark another major sporting celebration for the Bay Area. The San Francisco 49ers' Levi's Stadium hosted the Super Bowl in February and six World Cup matches last month, and the Golden State Warriors hosted the NBA All-Star Game in February of 2025.
Wrigley Field, venerable home of the Chicago Cubs, is scheduled to host next season's All-Star game.
